Tinicum Township has approximately 107 miles of roads. 74 miles are maintained by the Tinicum Township Department of Public Works, the remainder are maintained by the PA Dept. of Transportation (PennDOT).  Township roads are maintained in an order of priority established by the Public Works Director to enable the safest and most efficient travel throughout the township.

TINICUM TOWNSHIP BRIDGES
Part of Tinicum Township's charm is it's historic bridges and winding country roads, but they can be a challenge for delivery vans and trucks. Please remember bridge weight/height limits when providing delivery instructions. 
  • The Erwinna Covered Bridge on Geigel Hill Road has a maximum height restriction of 9 feet.
  • The Frankenfield Covered Bridge on Hollow Horn Road has a maximum height restriction of 9 feet.
  • The Uhlerstown Covered Bridge on Uhlerstown Hill Road has a maximum height restriction of 11 feet.

The following is a listing of Tinicum Township bridges by maintenance responsibility, which include posted limits, type of construction, span and restrictions:

TINICUM TOWNSHIP DIRT & GRAVEL ROADS
The Township maintains 18 miles of dirt and gravel roads. Ordinance 185 was established to protect these roads by establishing width and weight restrictions. The average width of these roads is 12 feet and should not be used by vehicles exceeding 8 feet in width. Additionally, heavy trucks can damage the road surface. There is weight limit of 15 tons between Jan. 1 and May 31 and a weight limit of 30 tons between June 1 and Dec. 31 of any year.

TINICUM TOWNSHIP MAINTAINED ROADS
The following roads are maintained by the Township: Annawanda, Beaver Run, Boulder, Breezy, Bunker Hill, Cafferty, Center, Clay Ridge, Durham, Ervin, Everbreeze, Farm School, Frankenfield, Gruver, Hager Hill, Hollow Horn, Iron Bridge, Jugtown Hill, Lily Valley, Lodi Hill, Meadow, Mount Airy, Municipal, Oak Grove, Old Forge, Park, Permanent School, Perry Auger, Randts Mill, Red Cliff, Ridge Valley, Roaring Rocks, Rock Ridge, Ropewalk, Second Street, Sheephole, Sherman, Shull Farm, Smithtown, Stagecoach, Sunset, Swamp Creek, Tabor, Tammany, Tankhannen, Tettemer, Tinby Drive, Tinicum Creek, Tohickon Square East, Tohickon Valley, Tory, Twin Lear, Uhlerstown Hill, Union School, Valley View, Wildcat, Wormansville.

Please note: The hill section of Uhlerstown Hill is a one-way road going uphill (northbound). Due to safety concerns, it is closed during the winter months and reopens in the spring at the discretion of the Public Works Director.

PENNDOT MAINTAINED ROADS
PennDOT maintains the following state-owned roads: Rte. 611 (Easton Road), Rte. 32 (River Road), Rte. 113 (Bedminster), E. Dark Hollow Road, Headquarters Road, Geigel Hill Road, South Park Road, Creamery Road, Brick Church Road, Red Hill Road, Upper Tinicum Church Road, Stover Park Road and Byram Road. PennDOT's The Customer Care Center (CCC) is an online resource for the residents of Pennsylvania to submit complaints about potholes, deer carcass removal, drainage issues, etc. A concern should not be submitted for immediate needs or issues that could create safety concerns, such as missing signs or roadway hazards. If the concern requires immediate attention, please call 1-800-FIX-ROAD to be directly connected to the county maintenance office in your area.
